Harmony Fire District Executive Board Meeting

                                                                        February 21, 2007

 

The Moderator called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.

Present: R. Fogarty, S. Owens, S. Sette, Chief Pearson, J. Lyman, A. Dahlquist.

Absent: L. Michaels, J Richards, Attorney Mason.

A motion made to approve the minutes of the November 21,2006 and the January 17,2007 meetings with the executive session minutes of January 17,2007 to remain sealed and confidential. Motion by S.Sette 2nd by M. Huston.  Motion  Approved.

Treasuere’Report

The Treasuer reported a beginning balance on January 1,2007 of $278,458.38 an ending balance January 31,2007 of $210,905.41.  Transfer of $36,232.00 from the equipment fund was dispersed as a check payable for car #1.  Other bills were routine..  There were questions regarding funds for fire safety education in the schools and technology software {.Quickbook}.  The treasuer had questions regarding tax collection recording for her records and the separation of taxes collected with the interest separated out discussion followed.  Motion by S. Sette2nd by M. Huston to accept the repot as read.  Motion carried. 

Chief’s Report

The following members of the active crew of the Harmony Fire district are hereby appointed by the Chief of the Department with the concurrence of the Harmony Fire District Executive Board as officers for the year 2007-2008.

These appointments are effective March 1, 2007.

A motion by S.Sette 2nd by M. Huston to accept the officers of the Harmony Fire Department appointed by the Chief be approved..Approved

Standard Operating Pocedure presented by the Chief:

The Chief explained all personel are insured by the district while on district business. Without a standard procedure claims could be denied and the district members could be ineligible for benefits if hurt or disabled. 

Purpose:

In the interest of the department members and the well being of their family members, this document is established to provide procedures for insuring eligibility for programs in case of injury or death. 

Procedure:

1. All business and travel on behalf of the Harmony Fire Department or the Harmony Fire District shall commence from the Harmony Fire Station.

 

2. All business and travel on behalf of the Harmony Fire Department or the Harmony Fire District shall end upon direct return to their place of dwelling after a stop at the Harmony Fire Station. 

 

3. Notice of this regulation shall be posted conspicuously in the Harmony Fire Station.

 

Discussion followed regarding the purpose and need for this procedure.  This precedure is reccomended as SOP by the Public Safety Officers Benefits Program.

Motion by M.Huston to approve this Standard Operating Procedure pending review by Attorney Mason and the Insurance Carrier.  2nd by S. Sette.  Motion approved.

 

Motion to adjourn to executive session at 7:20pm for the purpose of personnel issues.
